Malappuram: The second batch training of Jalanidhi’s new initiative “Jalatharangam” Citizen Journalist Programme took place at Emarald Ayurvedic Resort, Pulamanthol, Malappuram district on the 22nd and 23rd of August 2016. The programme was inaugurated by Shri. Premlal M (D-HRD). The main objectives of this programme are to improve and increase the visibility and sustainability of Jalanidhi through citizen journalists who are the products of this programme and also to develop and form a group of spokespersons/writers for Jalanidhi programmes at the grass-root level. The two-day training programme will also provide a basic knowledge and exposure to the world of media, and thus equip the participants to carve news out of what they see and hear in Jalanidhi Projects. The welcome address was delivered by Shri. Rahul U.S (DD-IEC) and Shri. Abdul Latheef KVM (Director - RPMU) delivered the keynote address. Shri. R. Samban, President, Press Club, Malappuram and Shri. Suresh Edappal, Secretary, Press Club, Malappuram felicitated the gathering. Shri. Shaheer M P (MCD), Shri. Subash M (Training Specialist), Kumari Dalia C Jose and Shri O P Abraham (IEC Consultants) coordinated the whole training programme. The various training sessions were handled by Shri. George Pulicken, Shri. S. Radhakrishnan, Shri. T. Sasimohan, and Shri. Musthafa P, the eminent faculties from the different areas of media. A total of 35 participants attended this training programme.

Mananthavady, Aug 4th 2016: The state-level inauguration of Jalanidhi’s new initiative “Jalatharangam” Citizen Journalist Programme took place at WSSS, Mananthavady, Wayanad on the 4th of August 2016. The programme was inaugurated by Ms. Surekha Pillai, Consultant of The World Bank. The main objectives of this programme are to improve and increase the visibility and sustainability of Jalanidhi through citizen journalists who would be the outcome of this programme and also to develop and form a group of spokespersons/writers for Jalanidhi programmes at the grass-root level. The two-day training programme is also expected to provide basic knowledge and exposure to the world of media, and thus equip the participants to carve news out of what they see and hear in Jalanidhi Projects. The welcome address was delivered by Shri. Rahul U.S (DD-IEC) and Shri. M. Premlal (D-HRD) delivered the keynote address. Shri. V. Chandran RPD-Kannur, Shri. The programme will conclude on the 5th of August 2016 and this would be emulated to other RPMUs as well in the coming days.

Kottakkal, July 20, 2016: KRWSA organized two one-day training programmes for office bearers of Scheme Level Executive Committee (SLEC) members of bulk water schemes of six GPs (Perumanna-clari, Ouzhur, Thennala Urakom, Vergara and Parappur) under RPMU Malappuram on 18th & 19th July 2016 at Kottakkal. The objectives of the programme were to review the current issues and concerns and also to orient SLEC members on the roles and responsibilities for the implementation of water supply schemes along with an in-depth vision on the scope of sustainability of the schemes. The opening remark was delivered by Shri. Premlal (D-HRD). Shri. Mohanan. K (D-Tech) and Shri. Abdul Latheef K.V.M (RPD- Malappuram) felicitated the gathering. The sessions were handled by Shri. Premlal and Shri. Mohanan. K. Schematic presentations were done by the Senior Engineers of respective GPs. Eighty five participants including Senor Engineers, GPST and SLEC members from the six GPs attended this training programme.

KRWSA organized training on the topic “Collection of Geo Coordinates of Jalanidhi Assets and Subsequent Mapping” under RPMU Idukkion 15th July 2016 at Kidangoor, Pala, Kottayam. The training focussed on the scope and importance of GIS and GPS applications in KRWSA projects. The participants of the training programme comprised of PCs, SEs and JEs of SOs from the GPs Theekoy, Koottikkal, Poojar Thekkekara, Parathode, Thidanadu, Thalappalam and Menachil Gramapanchayath of RPMU Idukki. The sessions were handled by Shri.Sudheer A.S (GIS Specialist) and Dr. Balakrishnan (WCS -- RPMU Idukki) provided all support for the conduct of the training. Hands-on exposure cum field visit was also a part of the training programme. Thirty five participants attended this training programme.

KRWSA organized one-day training on Office Management and Procurement Procedures for GPSTs under RPMU Idukki. The programme was arranged on 11th July 2016 at Kottayam. The training programme focused on providing orientation on office management and procedures to follow while carrying out documentation processes at work. The participants of the training programme comprised of Managers (Tech), Senior Engineers, Accountants and GPST staff under RPMU Idukki. Various sessions on office management, procurement procedures and file management were handled by Shri. P.R Suresh Kumar (DD-Fin), Shri. Gopinathan Nair (Sr. Accountant), PMU and Shri. George Mathew (Manager - CD - RPMU Kannur). The training programme was useful for self-retrospection, initiated the officers to take up more responsibilities for an effective and efficient office management, and carry out procedures with proper and systematic documentation at all levels. Seventy participants attended this training programme.

Thrissur, June 29, 2016: KRWSA organized two one-day training programmes for office bearers of Scheme Level Executive Committee (SLEC) of Mala multi GPs under RPMU Malappuram on 27th & 28th of June 2016 at Thrissur. The objectives of the programme were to review the current issues and concerns and also to orient SLEC members on the roles and responsibilities for the operations and maintenance of water supply schemes along with an in-depth vision on the scope of sustainability of the schemes. Eighty participants including Senor Engineers, GPST and SLEC members from six Grama Panchayats under Mala multi GP Scheme participated in this training programme. At both the programmes, the opening remark was delivered by Shri. Premlal (D-HRD). Shri. Abdul Latheef K.V.M (RPD- Malappuram), Shri. Suresh Babu (DD-HR), Shri. Shaheer MP (MCD) and Shri. Subhash M (Training Specialist) felicitated the gathering. Various sessions were handled by Shri. Premlal and Shri. Abdul Latheef. Schematic presentations were done by the Senior Engineers /Project Commissioners of respective GPs. The programme witnessed fruitful discussions and deliberations from the participants who contributed valuable suggestions and inputs for the initiation of O & M. The training programme also enabled the participants to invoke their roles and responsibilities and reminded them of the relevance of SLEC/SLC for the sustainability aspects of schemes.

A review meeting of Batch III Grama Panchayats of KRWSA was arranged at PMU Conference Hall, Thiruvananthapuram on 9th June 2016 to review the progress of the project execution. Project Commissioners, Team Leaders and Senior Engineers of Support Organizations and the officials of KRWSA including those from the RPMUs attended the meeting. Smt.Tinku Biswal IAS, Executive Director, KRWSA presided over the meeting where all the directors too took part.
