An exposure visit of a team of KRWSA and KWA officials to the World Bank-assisted Karnataka Urban Water Sector Improvement Project (KUWASIP), implemented as a demo project in selected wards of the cities viz. Hubli-Dharwad, Belgaum and Gulbarga, was held on 19th and 20th of January 2016.  The team comprised of 8 senior officials of KWA, led by Shri. Ajit Patil IAS, the Managing Director and 5 senior officials of KRWSA. The objective of the visit was to understand the procedures followed in the implementation of a 24 x 7 water supply scheme, its operations, management, etc. Shri. Srinivasa Podipireddy and other World Bank (WB) officials in charge of KUWASIP were also a part of the visit.

Shri. Prathinidhi, Advisor and Shri. Managond, AEE of Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development & Finance Corporation (KUIDFC), the nodal agency for implementing urban infrastructure projects in Karnataka State made presentations on the demo project of KUWASIP. The Project on Scale Up in rest of the wards of the 3 cities and the proposed contracting documents for the same were presented by Shri. Rajesh of WB. The team also visited the Mayor of the city corporation.

The team made a field trip to the project site of Hubli Dharwad scheme, where the operating company explained the 24x7 management of the scheme. The team also visited the bulk supply location and storage, the urban and rural household connections, network control systems, billing & customer care centre. Both KWA and KRWSA officials were benefited from the visit and are looking forward to piloting 24x7 water supply schemes in suitable towns or Panchayats areas.

Trivandrum: A two-day workshop entitled ‘Dynamics of effective writing’ took place at PMU Conference Hall on Jan 19-20, 2016 for the officials of KRWSA who are involved in social development. The methodology of training involved presentations designed to explore and grasp key concepts on writing as well as interactive exercises encouraging sharing of thoughts and ideas. The training also employed experiential learning methods such as group work and writing practice, which encouraged generation of ideas and application of concepts into practice. The discussion method adopted enabled the participants to organize their thoughts and expression. The sessions were handled by the eminent communication experts Prof. K. Gopalakrishnan, M.A, M.J, M.Phil. Who is the Chairman of Amrita Civil Service Academy and Angloscape, Sri. Prem C Nair,  MA, M Ed., who was the former Principal of Sainik School, Trivandrumand the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School, Trivandrum, Prof.  Mohan  Das,  MA.,LLB., PhD., who is currently a consultant  to the World Bank and has done consultancy assignments to  DFID, UNDP, and Government of India, Inter University Council of Belgium and other international  organizations, Sri. M. Harikumar, whohas over 25 years of experience in print and mass media and is a postgraduate in Journalism (M.J) and has served as Special Correspondent and Bureau Chief of the leading daily, Mathrubhoomi in different cities and Sri. Senthil Kumar Madhavan, whose forte is BEC training and corporate grooming.

The workshop helped the officials of KRWSA understand the latest trends and techniques followed worldwide in effective writing.

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 5, 2015: A 3-day technical training for the engineering staff of Batch III Grama Panchayats of KRWSA from Kottayam, Idukki and Kasaragod Districts took place at Thiruvananthapuram from 3 to 5 Dec, 2015. The main objective of the programme was to give hands-on training on the preparation of detailed scheme reports, water cad and estimation of various components of Jalanidhi. Moreover, this training programme was envisaged to provide a practical session on water cad, M- Book recording, and estimate preparation in a comprehensive manner. The participants of the training programme comprised of Project Commissioners and the technical staff of the Supporting Organization. Sri. K. Mohan, Director (Technical) delivered the key note address at the programme and Sri. M. Premlal, Director (HR) detailed the objectives. Sri. Suresh Babu K.N DD (HR), Ms. Sangeetha.M.M, DD (Tech), Sri. Santhosh Sathyapal, DD (Ops), Sri. Biju K.C, Executive Secretary, Nenmeni LWSS, Sri Goergekutty Joseph, TD, (SUEF), Shri. Jayakumaravarma, Manager (Tech), Kannur, etc., took classes on various topics.  A total of 35 participants attended the programme.

Thrissur, 27th October 2015, Three Days Technical Training for the Engineering staff of Batch III Grama Panchayats in Kozhikode District under RPMU Malappuram started at Kerala Institute of Local Self Government, (KILA) Trissur on 27th October 2015. Thirty five engineering staff from Chorode, Purameri, Ayancherry, Vallliyapilly, Chakkittapara, Kottur, Naduvannur  Grama Panchayats are participating in the programme.  The programme will conclude on 29th of October 2015. The main objective of this programme is to give hands on training for the preparation of detailed scheme reports and estimation of various components of Jalanidhi.

KRWSA organised a Bidders conference on 13th of October 2015 at Kozhikode to give clarifications regarding the E-tenders already advertised. Altogether 60 contractors attended the conference from across the jurisdiction of all RPMUs
